Love – the Second Time Around (A Sonnet)
Love gently arrives second time around
Caressing the senses, opening up
The frozen heart where it had gone aground
Like a ship wreck or a small broken cup,
Left behind when you move house somewhere else.
Forgotten, abandoned, left on the shelf.
When all hope is gone and bad for your health
Depression sets in and its all for self.
Then and only then does love come softly
On tiptoe, silent feet caress the ground.
As hope rises eternal and lofty,
Encompassing two hearts without a sound.
Then full of joy felt for the second time
Two hearts overcome doubt, settle in rhyme.
